Manchester City Now Turns to Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Big spending Premier League club Manchester City seems to have turned their attention to Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Reports available in the media suggest that City manager Roberto Mancini is now interested to sign his former Inter Milan student.

Swedish striker Ibrahimovic is currently playing at Ac Milan on loan from Barcelona following a disastrous season with the Catalan side. However, the former Inter Milan star seems to have found his form back at Milan this season, scoring 19 goals in 33 matches. So, there is a possibility AC Milan could be prompted to buy the tall striker for a fee of £26 million.

Well, the City boss is now facing some problems with his strikers. Carlos Tevez looks unsettled and may leave at the end of the season in a move back to Argentina. Moreover, Italian striker Mario Balotelli has kept showing his hot temper both on and off the field.

So, Roberto Mancini is looking for a reliable striker like Ibrahimovic who has already been a success story under his coaching.

Manchester City Pondering a £24m Summer Bid for Alexis Sanchez

It seems Manchester City would continue their high-spending nature in the transfer market of Summer 2011 too. The Premier League club is now reportedly tracking highly skilled Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez who has excelled in Serie A recently.

The Chile international has also attracted a number of European clubs including City’s Premier League rival Chelsea and Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan. He has excellent speed and ball controlling abilities and is capable of playing as a striker.

Reports out in the media suggest that City could line up a £24 million bid for the 22 year old player who was part of Chile’s 2010 World Cup squad. A bid of this large could help Manchester City to see off the player’s other suitors. Overall, it seems Alexis Sanchez could become City’s first major signing in summer 2011.

Will Manchester City Finish in the Top Four This Season?

With this post, we intend to turn this blog into a Manchester City blog where we will be covering only Manchester City related news.

Manchester City lost a crucial Premier League encounter with Chelsea on Sunday. After this loss, they have now moved down to the fourth place with a point behind third-placed Chelsea who has a game in hand.

Most importantly, Manchester City, with 53 points from 30 games, is just 4 points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur who also played a game less.

No doubt, City has very good chance in qualifying for Champions League next season, but given their recent injury scarce it seems they might have to struggle to clinch a place in Europe. However, if they can put aside injury problems, they have really good chance to play in the Champions League next season.

Rafael Nadal is eyeing to hold the US Open 2010

Top ranked male tennis player, Rafael Nadal, is hoping to get his maiden US Open tournament this season in New York as he is yet to get this major crown. The 24-year-old player is not worried about the US Open title victory.

He has already won eight Grand Slam trophies so far in his career- one in Australian Open, five in French Open and two in Wimbledon Open.

He has never been able to go further than semi-final in the US Open in New York. He reached the semi-final round twice in 2008 and 2009 where he was beaten by Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro each time respectively.

The two big arch rivals, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, have faced each other so far on a total of twenty-one occasions, including seven major finals- at least once at each of the other three Grand Slam championships. What is interesting is that they have never faced each other in the US Open tennis tournament.

Commenting on his last two defeats at the US Open, Rafael Nadal said he was physically and mentally worn out. Perhaps, he is more fit and probable player to win the trophy this time. If he can win the trophy at the US Open then he will write his name in the list of players who have won all four Grand Slam trophies.
