Wet weather delayed the final match of Dubai Tennis Championship

Defending champion Novak Djokovic will have to wait to defend his Dubai Tennis Championship title once again as rain halted final match on Saturday against Mikhail Youzhny. If wet weather did not interrupt in the match then the world No. 2 could easily win the title. The Serbian opponent Novak Djokovic won the first set by 7-5. No doubt, he faced a tough challenge by his opponent. It took 63 minutes to win the first set. Because of this fact you can mention this game topsy-turvy. In the second set, he was in benefit after taking 2-0 lead. When weather intervened again, he was 30-15 up in the third game. However, umpire Mohamed Lahyani announced that the court is too wet to play. Despite the workers hard working, the venue was not suitable to play anymore. Both players will have to wait for one more day to ensure the match result. Let us see if Novak Djokovic can hold his 17th ATP title.

Novak Djokovic defeated Ivan Ljubicic at the quarterfinal round of Dubai Tennis Championships

There is good news for Novak Djokovic fans as their second-seeded player in world ranking has moved into a semi-final round of Dubai Tennis Championships. He has beaten former top-five star Ivan Ljubicic 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the quarter final round. This victory came on the hardcourts at Dubai Tennis Stadium. In semi-final round Djokovic will face Marcos Baghdatis of Cypriot. It is predicted that Novak Djokovic will face tough challenge against Marcos Baghdatis. Marcos Baghdatis defeated German Michael Berrer 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.

Novak Djokovic is the defending champion. He is eyeing for another successive trophy in this ground. He played a tough match against Ivan Ljubicic. He made her come back after losing the first set. However, He ensured his victory within three sets. He needs just two victories to get the title once again. Let us see if he can do it or not.

Novak Djokovic secured his place at the quarterfinal round

The second-seeded male tennis player Novak Djokovic is the defending champion of Dubai Tennis Championships. He is playing well in the Dubai Champions. This year he is playing in Dubai Championships to defend his title once again. However, it is not an easy task either. Recently, Novak Djokovic moved into the quarterfinal round of this much exciting tournament. He faced a tough challenge against Serbian opponent Viktor Troicki in group round. Djokovic defeated his opponent by 3-6, 6-4 and 6-2 on the hardcourts at Dubai Tennis Stadium. It was obviously a tough match for him. He impressed his fans after making his come back in the second set. He lost the first set 3-6 to Viktor Troicki. However, some great players like Andy Murray, Nikolay Davydenko and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have left out of this tournament from second round. I am eagerly waiting to see that who will get $2.233 million as prize money.

India ensured ODI series victory after winning the second ODI match by 153 runs

Indian cricket team has ensured their ODI victory after winning the second ODI match against South Africa. India won the match by 153 runs. India has taken the 2-0 lead after winning the first two matches in a 3-match ODI series. India won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 401 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted overs. Indian master blaster batsman Sachin Tendulkar played superb innings. He has become the first batsman to have scored double century in ODI cricket. You should know that it was the second highest ODI score. In reply to Indian innings, South Africa got all out for 248 runs. Proteas players were unable to chase this score. AB de Villiers tried to make protest but there was no one who could support him. AB de Villiers scored not out 114 from 101 balls.

Roger Federer pulled out of Dubai tennis after lung infection

Lung infection forced Roger Federer to pull out of the ATP Dubai tennis championships this year. According to the ATP website, the top-seeded male tennis player Roger Federer picked up the infection last week. However, he went to doctor for check up and advised to take rest. Four times Dubai champion Roger Federer is expecting to make his return next week at the ATP World Tour Masters at Indian Wells which will start in March in 2010. The 28-year-old Swiss professional tennis player Roger Federer won 16 Grand Slam titles in his tennis career and secured his top position for 268 weeks. If he would play this tournament and won the trophy then he could have gotten two-million-dollar as prize money. He was supposed to play against Julien Benneteau of France in the first round. However, it is obviously sad news for Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray because both these two 22-year-old players wanted to take revenge after defeating Roger Federer.

Venus Williams defended Dubai Championships title after defeating Victoria Azarenka

In my earlier post, I told you that Venus Williams will face Victoria Azarenka in the final round of Dubai Championships. This match has already finished and the result is that American contestant Venus Williams won the title once again. She defeated Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-3, 7-5 in the final match. This victory helped her to hold the trophy. Venus Williams got her 42nd singles title on the WTA Tour after winnings this match. However, it was closely competitive match between them. Though fifth seeded tennis player Venus Williams got an easy victory in the first set, she had to face a tough challenge by sixth seeded player Victoria Azarenka in the second round.

Venus Williams will face Victoria Azarenka in the final round of Dubai Tennis Championship 2010

Dubai Tennis Championship will be end with the final match which will be played between Venus Williams and Victoria Azarenka. American contestant Venus Williams will face Belarus contestant Victoria Azarenka for the trophy. Fans are excitedly waiting to see who will win the trophy. Compare with Azarenka, Venus is much strong opponent and she has the possibility to win the trophy in this trophy. You know that Venus Williams is fifth seeded player in world ranked and her opponent Victoria Azarenka is sixth seeded player. As both players in good form, so we can hope to see a much competitive match between them.

Venus Williams defeated Israeli player Shahar Peer 6-1, 6-4 in semi-final round. On the other hand, Victoria Azarenka defeated Polish contestant Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 6-4 in another semi-final match.

Nikolay Davydenko beats Feliciano Lopez at ABN-AMRO World Tennis

It was an exciting match between Nikolay Davydenko and Feliciano Lopez in ABN-AMRO World Tennis. However, Nikolay Davydenko won the match by 6-4, 6-2. Johannesburg champion Feliciano Lopez could not avoid his defeat against second seeded Davydenko. The duration of this match was just 75 minutes. It was Davydenko first match in this tournament and after winning this match he has moved through to the second round. Lopez tried his best and he expected to get career third title but Davydenko was a big obstacle against him. I have to admit that Nikolay Davydenko had got enough time to get used to the faster conditions of a newly-laid court. Tennis fans should eagerly wait to see how long Davydenko can proceed.

Novak Djokovic defeated Sergiy Stakhovsky and moved to the second round of Rotterdam Open

Novak Djokovic is a young promising Serbian tennis player. He is always considered as one of the favorite players in any tournament. However, this 22-year-old is now playing at the ABN-AMRO World Tennis (Rotterdam Open). He has moved through to the second round after defeating Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-2, 4-1 in his opening match. He won the match early as his opponent had to retire because of knee injury. The match was played just 54 minutes. This victory proves that he is now totally fit. The world number two-seeded and top-seeded Serb player lost to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals of Australian Open 2010. Novak Djokovic is confidence to play well in this tournament.

Back Injury Forced Dinara Safina Withdraws from Dubai Tennis Championships

Dinara Safina is the second-seeded female tennis player in WTA ranking. She is the only female tennis player who hauled top position without winning any single Grand Slam trophy. However, this tennis player is now suffering from back injury. Because of her injury she can not take part in the upcoming Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships. Dinara Safina made it clear by putting a statement in her official website where she said, “Unfortunately, I will not be able to play this year because of the back injury that's been bothering me since the end of last season.”

Dinara Safina was one of the most probable players who could win the Australian Open 2010 trophy. However, she could not make her dream became true because she had to take retirement in the fourth round game against Maria Kirilenko in Australian Open 2010. Justine Henin Has Got Wildcard to Join Indian Wells Tennis

Top-seeded tennis players are waiting for another big tournament that is BNP Paribas Open. It will be held in Indian Wells, California. It is scheduled to start from 8 March to 21 March 2010. Former world number one Justine Henin has got wildcard to take part in this tournament. This 27-year-old Belgian tennis player is happy after getting a wildcard. She is hopeful about getting her first big trophy in this tournament. In the main draw of this tournament she joins along with Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic and compatriot Kim Clijsters.

Justine Henin came out of retirement last year. She took part in the Australian Open 2010 and reached into the final round where she faced and lost to her USA opponent Serena Williams. Roger Federer and Serna Williams Maintained Dominance in the Tennis Ranking

Both men’s and women’s tennis ranking have been updated after the end of Australian Open 2010. You can see some big changes in both ATP and WTA Tour ranking. Roger Federer and Serna Williams are taking top position in the ranking. Except it other nine players have been shuffled in the ranking. The most notable change is that world number 2 Rafael Nadal has slipped two steps down and has taken fourth position. His defeat against Andy Murray in the quarterfinals of Australian Open 2010 let him down in the ranking. Andy Murray has been drafted in number 3 position. However, it should be noted that Rafael Nadal was suffering from knee injury. Novak Djokovic replaced Rafael Nadal in number two position.

Roger Federer will soon break Ivan Lendl’s record who remained his top position for 270 weeks. After winning 16th Grand Slam trophy in Australian Open, Roger Federer has overtaken Pete Sampras. He will also try to break Pete Sampras’s record of 286 weeks at No. 1.
