Yen-Hsun Lu made into the quarterfinals in Wimbledon Tennis

It is expected that this year Wimbledon will go to Asia. This though came to my mind after seeing Taiwan's unseeded player, Yen-Hsun Lu, to make an upset against one of the top favorite players, Andy Roddick.

Victory against Andy Roddick put Lu into the quarterfinals round. He defeated his opponent in five sets 4-6, 7-6, (7/3) 7-6, (7/4) 6-7, (5/7) 9-7. For the first time he has progressed beyond the third round of a Grand Slam. Before that, Shuzo Matsuoka of Japan was the only player to reach the last eight at Wimbledon in 1995.

Though it was pathetic, Andy Roddick accepted it with good grace. In his statement, he said that his performance was not up to standard as he started to perform at the fifth set.

Another Chinese player, Li Na, is another player who made into the quarterfinals round after beating Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska.

Zhang Shuai is considered to be the future tennis star. That player has been the one to watch after winning the women’s doubles title at the China Tennis Grand Prix in Nanjing last year.

However, tennis fans around the world will be eyeing to see how long Yen-Hsun Lu can go in this ongoing Grand Slam tournament.
