Serena Williams and Venus Williams have return to the top position of WTA ranking

It is a matter of great pleasure that both Serena Williams and Venus Williams have moved into the top of the WTA ranking together for the first time in seven years.

According to the WTA tour, Venus Williams is assured of moving up to No. 2. On the other hand, her younger sister, Serena Williams, is leading the ranking with top spot.

It will be the 46th week overall that the siblings have been seeded number 1 and 2. Since 2003 they could not continue their dominance and lost their top positions. They were first appeared at Nos. 1 and 2 in June 2002. Venus Williams was the hold the top spot followed by Serena Williams.

Ahead of the French Open 2010, which is scheduled to kick off on May 23, both sisters will be seeded 1-2.

It will be interesting to see how long they can continue their form and top position in the WTA ranking. They will have to face a tough time when they will head to play at Roland Garros.

Recently, Serena Williams made her return from injury. She has not got back her prime form. It is expected that she will be eliminated early from this upcoming tournament.
