Roger Federer was knocked out by Albert Montanes of the Estoril Open semifinals

Roger Federer’s performance in Portugal questioned his ability to defense the title. He is the defending champion in Roland Garros which was his maiden Grand Slam in this court. It is thought that he cannot hold his title for the second consecutive year. The only reason is that he is not in good form. French Open 2010 is coming closer. It is scheduled to start at 23rd May 2010. May be, he will be back in the clay court with skill and strength.

Recently, Roger Federer was beaten by Albert Montanes 6-2, 7-6 (5) in the semi-final round of the Estoril Open. Albert Montanes is the defending champion. His victory against world best placed put him in the final round and boost him to hold the singles title once again.

Roger Federer 48 unforced errors, mostly on his backhand. He was more consistent in the second set but could not win the match.

Not only that but also he lost to Ernests Gulbis at the Rome Masters. Ernests Gulbis is ranked 40 in ATP players list.

The question is that if Federer can play well or will be upset by someone.

Six weeks ago, Roger Federer broke Pete Sampras’ all time record of holding No. 1 position in 286 weeks.
