Nadia Petrova defeated Serena Williams at the Madrid Masters

Serena Williams, who is the top ranked tennis player in the WTA ranking, recently lost to Russian opponent Nadia Petrova 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at the Madrid Masters.

It was an exciting game as both players fought hard for a victory. Serena Williams won the first set and took the control of the match, but Nadia Nadia Petrova clinched the victory after winning the last two sets.

Serena Williams made 41 errors while the 16th seeded Nadia Petrova had 10 aces on Wednesday.

Serena Williams made her return in the tennis court after suffering from injury. That is why, she looked out of form. Her match against Vera Dushevina on Tuesday was one of the longest matches of her career as it lasted 3 hours and 26 minutes.

Last year, Williams made her first appearance at the Madrid Masters and had been eliminated early after being beaten in the opening round.

However, elder sister Venus Williams moved into the fourth round by beating Francesca Schiavone 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Fans may worry about Serena Williams’ performance in the clay court which will kick off at the end of this month. It will be interesting to see if Serena Williams can grab another Grand Slam title this year.
