Wasim Bari: The New Chief Operating Officer of PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Pakistan captain Wasim Bari as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). The appointment came just a week after PCB had sacked Saleem Altaf from the position. PCB’s governing body members agreed on Bari’s appointment in this post.

PCB’s actions have created a number of questions recently. For example, there was no clear reason behind the removal of Altaf from chief operating officer. Moreover, there is a serious question regarding Bari’s promotion to this post. Recently, PCB chief Ejaz Butt removed the national selection committee spearheaded by former great Abdul Qadir without any specific reason, and then Bari served as the interim chief of selection committee.

Internal politics is always a big problem in Pakistan cricket. In fact, this is a big problem in the cricket boards of sub-continent. I just do not know when this practice would stop in this region. Anyway, I will Wasim Bari all the best in his new job.
