Zaheer Khan to Miss ICC Champions Trophy 2009

Star Indian pacer Zaheer Khan is going to miss the upcoming Champions Trophy starting from 24 September. No doubt, it is a big blow for team India as the left hand pacer has been in excellent over the last one year and it would be not easy for India to deal with his absence in this elite tournament.

Zaheer underwent a shoulder injury last month and it is pretty much confirmed that he would not be able to come back in action before the seven match ODI home series against Australia due to take place in November-December. In fact, he might miss the Australia series too, unless he recovers as per the plan.

In his absence, other pacers like Ishant Sharma, RP Singh would have to take some extra responsibility in order to bridge up the void left by Zaheer Khan. India’s overall performance is pretty much satisfactory over the last one year, but Team India failed to deliver their best in Twenty20 world cup this year. So, Indian fans are expecting a strong come back by their players in Champions trophy, a tournament that India could not win yet. Now, let us see if Indian team can successfully deal with Zaheer Khan’s absence and show some strong performance in ICC Champions trophy 2009 in South Africa.
