Shane Watson Ruled out for Rest of the IPL 2009 Season

Shane Watson has been ruled out of the remaining two weeks of IPL 2009 tournament as the all rounder is now suffering from groin injury which he sustained during Australia’s recent twenty20 loss to Pakistan in UAE. Watson is confident that he would be able to represent Australia in next month’s ICC World Twenty20 2009 tournament in England, after recovering his current ailment in time.

Shane Watson returned from a back problem in the ODI series against Pakistan, but he played only as a batsman. However, the all rounder took barely any time to show his excellent batting form, amassing 271 runs at an average of 90.33 from 5 games. Regarding his groin injury, Shane Watson said that the medical staff of Cricket Australia had suggested him one or two weeks’ rest to get over the injury and there were three weeks before Australia would play their first practice match prior to the twenty20 world cup, which kicks off from 5 June. So, Watson is now confident to take part in the ICC World Twenty20 2000 after shacking off the groin injury in time.
