ICC: No Umpire Review System in Ashes 2009

A lot of things have been talked about Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) which, by some of the current cricketers, was full criticized since its inception. Well, ICC has announced that players would not be challenge umpires’ decision during July’s Ashes 2009 series which will take place in England.

Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) allows each team to make three unsuccessful appeals against umpires’ decisions in an innings. However, this system came under scrutiny because of a number of problems. This is perhaps the reason for which ICC has decided not to feature this system in an important series like Ashes. However, it has also been reported that this system would come into effect permanently from October 2009.
