Bangalore vs Deccan IPL Final 2009 Live Updates

Bangalore Royal Challengers are going to face Deccan Chargers in the much-awaited final of IPL 2009 twenty20 tournament at the Wanderers Stadium on 24 June 2009. Deccan reached the final after a 6-wicket win over Delhi Daredevils on Friday, and today, Bangalore defeated Chennai by the same margin to clinch their place in the final of the tournament. The interesting thing is that Bangalore and Deccan finished 7th and 8th in IPL 2008 and now they are the two finalists of IPL 2009. Naturally, fans of both sides are pretty much delighted to see their favorite team in the tournament final. Both teams are also very confident of winning the title of second edition of IPL.

Bangalore has a strong squad in the presence of some match winners. Their batting line up includes the foreign stars like Jacques Kallis, Ross Taylor and Mark Boucher. Moreover, young South African all rounder Roelof van der Merwe is also there with his hard hitting batting and left arm spin. I am really impressed by young opener Manish Pandey whose smashing century against Deccan in the last match of preliminary round guided Bangalore to the semi final and then he played another match winning innings of 48 against Chennai in the semi final. Their batting line up also features experienced batsman Rahul Dravid, young Virat Kohli and Robin Uthappa. Bangalore’s bowling line up is pretty much balanced. Their pace attack features Praveen Kumar, Jacques Kallis and Vinay Kumar, while their spin attack includes Captain Anil Kumble and Roelof van der Merwe.

Deccan Chargers showed their batting strength against Chennai Super Kings in the semi final. Captain Adam Gilchrist once again got on top of the opponent bowlers and demolished Chennai bowlers. Two openers Gilchrist and Herschelle Gibbs will continue in the final too, while I am not sure whether Azhar Bilakhia will be given another chance in the final match against Bangalore. Deccan also has hard-hitter Andrew Symonds, Tirumalsetti Suman, Rohit Sharma and Venugopal Rao in their batting line up. In the presence of Gilchrist, Gibbs and Symonds, I think, it is pretty much enough to pose a threat for the opposition bowlers.

Deccan Chargers have two quality paces in Ryan Harris and RP Singh, who has been in excellent form recently. Andrew Symonds and Harmeet Singh are two other effective pace options. Though their spin attack is led by Pragyan Ojha, Rohit Sharma’s off spin has been pretty much effective.
