South Africa Spinner Johan Botha Out for Fifth ODI against Australia

South African team management has decided not to feature the team’s prime spinner Johan Botha in the fifth match of the five-match ODI series which South Africa has already won as they are currently leading by 3-1. After the fourth ODI, matches officials including Brian Jerling, Asoka de Silva and TV umpire Rudi Koertzen reported to ICC regarding suspicion bowling action of the South African spinner who had been banned by ICC on same ground in 2006.

Johan Botha was instrumental behind South Africa’s ODI series win against Australian on Australian soil earlier this year. He has also played a big role behind South Africa’s win over Australia in the ongoing ODI series at home. His economical bowling and the ability to bring out early breakthroughs helped South Africa to retain the no. 1 spot in ODI ranking as well.

Now, ahead of world Twenty20, starting from 5 June 2009 in England, South African cricket fans are pretty much disappointed with Botha being reported on suspicion bowling action. Now, the spinner will go to University of Western Australia, Perth where he will undergo a bowling test in his bid to prove his bowling action right.
