Shoaib Akhtar Looking to Take Part in IPL 2009 T20 Tournament

Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar wants to come back in IPL 2009 as the tournament has been moved out of India following the failure of talks between BCCI and Indian government over the issue of providing enough security. Pakistani players are out of the upcoming twenty20 tournament as Pakistan government earlier ruled that no Pakistani player would be allowed to visit India amidst the recent fallout between the two neighboring countries following Mumbai terror attack towards the end of the last year.

Now that, IPL 2009 is expected to take place either in South Africa or England, Pakistani players like Shoaib Akhtar have become hopeful about a return to the tournament if their respective franchises called them up. However, IPL chief Lalit Modi said that Pakistani players would not be able to take part in the second edition of IPL tournament as the team rosters for all franchises have already been completed. Still, Shoaib Akhtar is looking for some room to join his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders for whom he made a brief return after being released from a nightmarish five-year ban imposed by PCB last year. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also said that it would talk to BCCI and Pakistan government regarding the participation of Pakistani players in the tournament.

Well, there is no doubt, Pakistani players are still less likely to be bale to participate in IPL 2009 twenty20 tournament, but if they can happen to be included in the tournament, it could increase television ratings of IPL in Pakistan. However, I think, there may not be any room left to include the Pakistani players in the team rosters.
