Pakistan Can Still Earn $ 2.75m from ICC Champions Trophy 2009

You already know that ICC Champions Trophy 2009 has been moved to South Africa from its original host Pakistan following the recent terror attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore. ICC has announced South Africa as the new venue for the eight-team tournament, due to be held in September-October. However, Pakistan Cricket Board still holds the hosting rights of the tournament, and thus, will earn 2.75 million dollars from the 12-day tournament. Here, it is notable that ICC would give financial assistance to South Africa for organizing the tournament.

This is definitely a praiseworthy decision by ICC to hand PCB a handsome amount, even though the tournament is not going to take place in Pakistan. Security has become a very big issue for Pakistan cricket over the last one year as a number of cricket playing countries expressed their reluctance to tour Pakistan.
