Lalit Modi is considered to be one of the most influential persons of Indian cricket and many believe that Modi is the most powerful man in Cricket since the emergence of Indian Premier League (IPL). Modi’s official status is that he is the vice-president of BCCI, the regulatory body of Indian Cricket, but he is best known as the chairman of IPL.
Well, Lalit Modi may have lots of power in Indian cricket, but he has recently lost a battle in his state Rajasthan where he could not be re-elected as the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) president. You might think that RCA presidency is nothing to a man who has such a power, not only in Indian cricket but also in world cricket. However, the fact is that all his power at national or international level came in relation to his power at RCA which, in fact, was the base of all of his power.
Now that, Modi lost his base, there are people who believe that this is the start of end of his long-standing power in Indian and international cricket. Recently, he faced police investigation after being charged of cheating and forgery, though he dismissed all the charges brought against him.
