Michael Vaughan: Kevin Pietersen Can be No. 1 Batsman in the World

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has said that Kevin Pietersen can become no. 1 batsman in world cricket. Vaughan thinks that he would be amazed if Pietersen would not become the highest scorer in West Indies. England team is now touring West Indies and the first test of the series will kick off at Kingston on Wednesday.

Following a conflict with Coach Peter Moores, Pietersen stepped down as England captain earlier this month. Moores was also sacked by ECB on the same day Pietersen quit and England captaincy has been handed to senior batsman Andrew Strauss. Pietersen took over as England captain during last year’s home series against South Africa when Vaughan stepped down from captaincy after South Africa clinched the series with a match at hand. It is believed that Pietersen wanted Vaughan to be part of England team for the West Indies tour and this was perhaps one of those hot issues for which he had disagreement with Coach Peter Moores.

Vaughan thinks that Pietersen gives his best when he is under pressure and that is why, he is hoping to see the best of Pietersen in West Indies.
