Zimbabwe scored 160 after losing 9 wickets at the end of 50 overs, giving Bangladesh a slim target to chase down. At one stage, Zimbabwe was struggling as they lost 6 wickets at 47 after a somewhat good start from the two openers who put on 27 runs on the board. Williams and Utseya brought up 96 runs for the 7th wicket, helping Zimbabwe to get out of the early setbacks. Sean Williams played a brilliant innings of 59 runs off 89 balls before sacrificing his wicket for Utseya being run out. Prosper Utseya played a very slow but important innings of 38 runs that saved Zimbabwe from a possible humiliation.

Among the Bangladeshi bowlers, Nazmul Hossain picked up highest 3 wickets, kindling a damage in Zimbabwean middle order. Mashrafe Mortaza also bowled very well and picked up two wickets in the last over of the match. Pacer Rubel Hossain also got 2 wickets for Bangladesh.
