Andrew Symonds Fined $4,000

In terms of financial amount, $4,000 fine is not a big fine for Andrew Symonds who earns millions of dollars through Indian Premier League (IPL). On Thursday, Symonds was fined this amount after being pleaded guilty of making insulting public comment against New Zealand wicketkeeper Brendan McCullum during a radio interview recently. Cricket Australia decided to fine Symonds this amount following his 14-minute hearing in Melbourne on Thursday.

The all rounder accepted the fine, stating that he was even happy that CA judged the situation on the basis of his hearing, not by the comment made during the radio interview. This curly-haired hot-tempered cricketer used insulting words for the New Zealand cricketer during the radio interview while expressing his disgust at New South Wales signing McCullum for a short time period. This is not the first time Symonds made newspaper headline for breaching discipline.

Andrew Symonds has got the full support of Australian captain Ricky Ponting who is reportedly lobbying to get him for the South Africa tour. However, former Australian great Ian Chappell thinks that the way Symonds is going, he might be distraction for the team. Now, let us see if Andrew Symonds can come back with his true spirit of cricket.
